Wedding in the Rain.
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007Tough gig on Sunday - rained all day. You have to make the best of it though, so we took most of the group shots indoors at the Pear Tree in Smite. Luckily, Paul and Rebecca had booked the reception at Worcester rugby club (good choice!) and we were able to make use of the covered stands. Richard and I looked through the shots today, and it looks like we have a nice mix of photographs, despite the weather. Obviously the shots would have looked nicer outside, but there are some nice candids, and a great group shot of the entire wedding party sitting in the stands.
I think the rest of the group shots would be improved in these situations by taking a set of studio flashes, but it adds time to set them up, and you don’t have much of that at a wedding. Not to mention the danger of mains cables for people to trip over. Using some battery powered flashes firing into brollies is another alternative that I think I’ll look into. There are some Elinchrom Skyports available that you can use to fire the flashes remotely - very tempting at £115 - and the famous Vivitar 285s are pretty reasonably priced too. Time for some shopping.
